On the Pre-Pay plan, you pay in advance for the natural gas we have estimated you will use in the next 30 days. This estimate is based on (1) the historical gas usage at your premise, (2) the current per-therm price for the Pre-Pay plan, (3) Atlanta Gas Light Company's charges to deliver your gas and (4) your monthly Customer Service Charge.
Each bill will show an adjustment between what you were charged in advance and what you actually used. If you were charged for more gas than you used, you will see a credit on your bill for the difference. If you used more gas than you were charged for, you will be charged the difference. In addition to this adjustment, you will see our estimate for the next 30 days of natural gas usage.
Below is an example that might be helpful:
A GNG customer enrolling in the Pre-Pay plan may be asked to make a $75 payment for the first 30 days of estimated natural gas service. The customer's natural gas is switched to GNG after the payment is made. When the customer's bill arrives, it contains the actual charges, which, for this example, we will say totaled $70. Because the customer paid $75 in advance, and the actual charges were $70, the customer is due a $5 credit on the current bill. Also shown on the current bill are the estimated total charges for the next 30 days, which, for this example, we will say total $50. Because the customer has a $5 credit, the total amount due is $45 ($50 estimated charges - $5 credit = $45). This is the amount that must be paid in order to avoid interruption of service.
